When is Venice Carnival 2027?

From Saturday 23 January to Tuesday 9 February 2027, according to the official Carnival website.

The 2027 theme

The official theme of Venice Carnival 2027 has not been announced yet. If a site gives you a theme without an official source, do not plan a costume around it.

The official programme

The city's own programme is published in stages. A first outline from Venezia Unica, the official ticketing and visitor service of the city, names the Festa Veneziana sull'Acqua as the opening event, the Corteo delle Marie on the second weekend, the Arsenale Water Show, the street shows, the Official Dinner Show and the close on Martedì Grasso, 9 February (Venezia Unica (opens in a new tab)).

Besides the closing day, two of them have dates so far: the Official Dinner Show, on 8 nights, and the Venice Carnival Street Show, in the city's squares and campi on 23–24 January, 30–31 January and from 4 to 9 February 2027 (official call for artists, 19 October 2026 (opens in a new tab)). Venues and times are still to come.

The outline does not mention the Volo dell'Angelo or the Svolo del Leon. That means nothing has been announced, not that they are cancelled. We will add each date as soon as it is official.

Wrong dates you may read elsewhere

Some travel sites give 30 January, or 24 January, as the start of Carnival 2027. The official Carnival website gives Saturday 23 January.
